Raids Guide

Karazhan Guide

Updated 29 Apr 2026 Forum discussion

Karazhan is the first real raid checkpoint for most TBC characters. It is a 10-player raid, but do not let the smaller raid size fool you. Kara punishes missing prep, weak crowd control, bad assignments, unfinished gear, and players who think “mostly ready” is good enough.

This guide is built as a practical raid-readiness checklist and strategy guide: attunement, roster setup, consumables, role prep, boss order, dangerous mechanics, full boss strategies, and how to use EpicForge Raid Planner and Raid Check before zoning in.

Quick Navigation

Important: Karazhan is not hard because every boss is mechanically complex. It is hard for underprepared groups because small mistakes stack quickly in a 10-player raid.

1. Karazhan Overview

Karazhan is located in Deadwind Pass and is one of the first major raids most players enter at level 70 in TBC.

Basic raid details:

  • Raid size: 10 players
  • Location: Deadwind Pass
  • Primary access requirement: Karazhan attunement / The Master's Key
  • Main progression path: Moroes → Opera Event → The Curator → Chess Event → Prince Malchezaar
  • Optional but important bosses: Attumen, Maiden, Illhoof, Shade of Aran, Netherspite, Nightbane
  • Reputation: The Violet Eye

Why Kara matters:

  • It is the first big gear checkpoint after normal/heroic dungeon gearing
  • It introduces raid-level mechanics without requiring a 25-player roster
  • It drops useful early raid gear and Tier 4-related items
  • It tests whether players are actually prepared, not just level 70
  • It is one of the best raids for seeing roster gaps quickly

Karazhan is often where guilds discover who has done the basics: enchants, gems, food, consumes, key access, threat control, and fight awareness.

2. Attunement: The Master’s Key

Before entering Karazhan normally, players need to complete the attunement chain that rewards The Master's Key.

Karazhan attunement starts at:

High-level attunement flow:

  1. Start with Arcane Disturbances and Restless Activity near Karazhan.
  2. Follow the chain to Dalaran and then Shattrath.
  3. Speak with Khadgar in Shattrath.
  4. Collect the first key fragment from Shadow Labyrinth.
  5. Collect the second key fragment from The Steamvault.
  6. Collect the third key fragment from The Arcatraz.
  7. Complete the Caverns of Time requirement and run The Black Morass.
  8. Speak with Medivh during the chain.
  9. Return to Khadgar and receive The Master's Key.

Dungeons involved:

Do not leave attunement until raid night. Shadow Labyrinth, Arcatraz access, Caverns of Time prerequisites, and Black Morass can slow people down if they start late.

3. Nightbane Unlock

Nightbane is optional, but he is one of the most important Karazhan bosses once your raid is ready for him.

Nightbane requires a separate unlock:

  • You need enough The Violet Eye reputation to begin the Nightbane quest chain.
  • The quest chain starts with Medivh’s Journal.
  • At the end, a player earns the ability to summon Nightbane using the Blackened Urn.

Why Nightbane matters:

  • He has strong loot for early raid gearing.
  • He tests add control, positioning, tank control, and raid discipline.
  • He is harder than many other Kara encounters.
  • Not every fresh Kara group should expect to kill him week one.

A sensible raid plan is to clear core bosses first, then add Nightbane once your group is stable, geared, and comfortable with the raid.

4. Recommended Raid Composition

Karazhan is a 10-player raid, so every slot matters. You do not have 25-player raid flexibility. Missing one key role can make the run much harder.

Safe progression setup:

  • 2 tanks
  • 3 healers
  • 5 DPS

Faster farm setup:

  • 2 tanks
  • 2 healers
  • 6 DPS

Useful raid tools to bring:

  • At least one reliable off-tank
  • Reliable crowd control for Moroes
  • Magic dispel
  • Curse removal if possible
  • Poison cleanse if available
  • Interrupts for trash and certain encounters
  • A decurser / dispeller who actually pays attention
  • Players who can follow assignments, not just pump damage

Very useful classes / tools:

  • Priest: Shackle Undead is excellent for Moroes-style control.
  • Paladin: strong buffs, blessings, cleanse utility, and tanking options.
  • Shaman: totems, Bloodlust / Heroism, Tremor and cleansing tools.
  • Mage: decurse, food/water, strong AoE, crowd control.
  • Warlock: Healthstones, summons, banish/fear utility where useful.
  • Hunter: Misdirection, traps, strong single-target damage.
  • Druid: battle rez, innervate, flexible tank/heal/DPS roles.

Karazhan does not require a perfect meta comp, but it does punish bad coverage. A clean 10-player roster with assignments beats a random pile of strong characters.

5. Pre-Raid Checklist

Before zoning into Karazhan, every player should pass a basic readiness check.

Character readiness:

  • Attuned and able to enter Karazhan
  • Gear repaired
  • Correct spec for assigned role
  • Correct weapons equipped
  • Correct trinkets equipped
  • No obvious leveling greens in key slots unless unavoidable
  • All reasonable gear enchanted
  • All sockets filled
  • Meta gem active if using one
  • Food, flask/elixirs, potions, reagents, ammo, and class items ready

Raid readiness:

  • Tanks assigned
  • Healers assigned
  • Loot rules clear
  • Moroes CC assignments ready
  • Opera awareness confirmed
  • Curator burn plan understood
  • Netherspite beam plan assigned if attempting him
  • Nightbane summon confirmed if attempting him

Most Karazhan problems are visible before the first pull if you check properly.

6. Consumables and Buffs

Karazhan does not require every player to spend a fortune, but showing up with nothing is lazy. Food, flask/elixir, and potions should be normal.

Baseline for everyone:

  • Food buff
  • Flask or battle/guardian elixir setup
  • Healing or mana potions as appropriate
  • Class reagents
  • Weapon oil, sharpening stone, or weightstone if relevant
  • Bandages
  • Repair gold

Useful food examples:

Useful potion examples:

Useful flask examples:

Karazhan is not the place to discover half the raid forgot food, reagents, ammo, soul shards, poisons, candles, symbols, ankhs, or water.

7. Role-by-Role Prep

Tanks

Tanks should check:

  • Defensive gear set ready
  • Threat gear available if overgeared for survival
  • Shield equipped where needed
  • Weapon skill and threat tools ready
  • Defensive cooldowns planned for harder pulls
  • Ironshield Potion available if needed
  • Boss positioning understood before the pull

Karazhan tanks do not just stand still. They control cleaves, positioning, add pickup, threat resets, and dangerous trash packs.

Healers

Healers should check:

  • Enough +healing and mana sustain for longer fights
  • Mana potions ready
  • Downranking or efficient healing setup if relevant
  • Cleanse / dispel responsibilities clear
  • Raid frames configured properly
  • Emergency cooldowns assigned where possible

Many Kara wipes are healer pressure problems caused by avoidable damage, missing dispels, or players arriving underprepared.

DPS

DPS should check:

  • Hit rating and stat priorities understood for their spec
  • Threat control tools ready
  • Interrupts and utility keybound
  • Consumables ready
  • Correct gems and enchants
  • Ability to swap target quickly for adds

Kara DPS is not just boss damage. Flares, adds, chains, skeletons, beams, and kill orders matter.

8. Recommended Clear Order

A sensible Karazhan route depends on whether your raid is fresh, progressing, or farming.

Common progression route:

  1. Attumen the Huntsman
  2. Moroes
  3. Maiden of Virtue
  4. Opera Event
  5. The Curator
  6. Terestian Illhoof
  7. Shade of Aran
  8. Netherspite
  9. Chess Event
  10. Prince Malchezaar
  11. Nightbane once unlocked and ready

Core required route:

Attumen is technically optional, but most groups kill him because he is early, useful, and has desirable loot including a rare mount chance.

9. Boss-by-Boss Strategy Guide

Karazhan bosses are not all hard individually, but each one tests a different part of raid discipline: control, positioning, target swapping, dispels, threat, movement, or communication.

The fastest Kara runs are not the ones where everyone blindly pumps. They are the ones where every player knows the priority target, the safe position, and the one mechanic that actually wipes the group.

Servant’s Quarters

Servant’s Quarters is optional. It is the animal-boss area near the start of Karazhan. The boss can vary, and the area is not required for the main route, but it can be worth clearing for extra loot, reputation, and practice.

What this section tests: clean pulling, trash control, poison/curse awareness, and not rushing optional content.

Recommended setup:

  • 1 tank is usually enough
  • 2-3 healers depending on gear
  • Decurse or poison cleanse if available
  • Controlled AoE for trash

Strategy:

  • Pull carefully and avoid chaining packs.
  • Let the tank establish control before AoE starts.
  • Keep the raid loosely spread if the active boss has poison, web, fear, or charge-style mechanics.
  • Kill adds or small mobs quickly if they appear.
  • Do not waste major cooldowns unless the pull becomes unstable.

Common mistakes:

  • Rushing because it is optional
  • Body-pulling extra packs
  • Starting AoE before tank threat is stable
  • Ignoring poison, curse, web, or fear effects

If your group is fresh, short on time, or already struggling, skip Servant’s Quarters and focus on the core Karazhan route.

Back to boss list

Attumen the Huntsman

Attumen is usually the first boss most groups kill in Karazhan. The fight starts with Midnight. Once Midnight is damaged, Attumen the Huntsman joins the fight. When either reaches low health, Attumen mounts Midnight and threat resets.

Key abilities:

Recommended setup:

  • 2 tanks for progression
  • 2-3 healers
  • Decurse from Mage or Druid is very useful
  • Hunter Misdirection helps with transitions

Strategy:

  • Main tank or off-tank picks up Midnight.
  • DPS starts only after tank threat is stable.
  • When Attumen spawns, the second tank picks him up immediately.
  • Keep Attumen faced away from the raid because of Shadow Cleave.
  • Decurse Intangible Presence, especially from tanks and physical DPS.
  • When Attumen mounts Midnight, threat resets. DPS should pause briefly until the tank has control again.
  • Finish the mounted phase while avoiding cleave and unnecessary charge damage.

Common mistakes:

  • Off-tank not picking up Attumen fast enough
  • DPS continuing through the mount transition and pulling threat
  • Boss facing the raid
  • Curse not being removed
  • Pulling stable trash during the fight

Attumen is mostly a tank-control fight. Clean pickup, clean decurse, clean transition.

Back to boss list

Moroes

Moroes is the first real organisation check in Karazhan. He comes with four random dinner guests. The fight is controlled by assignments, not raw damage.

Key abilities:

  • Garrote — long bleed applied after Vanish; heal through it and use immunities where useful.
  • Gouge — hits the highest threat target, then Moroes swaps to second threat.
  • Blind — poison effect on a nearby target; cleanse if possible.
  • Enrage — Moroes vanishes before applying Garrote.

Recommended setup:

  • 2 tanks
  • 3 healers for progression
  • At least 2 reliable crowd-control tools
  • Priest Shackle Undead is excellent here

Before the pull:

  • Identify all four dinner guests.
  • Mark the first kill target, second kill target, and CC targets.
  • Assign each CC target to a specific player.
  • Assign a backup if Shackle, Trap, or Fear breaks.
  • Tell DPS not to cleave into controlled targets.

Strategy:

  • Main tank picks up Moroes.
  • Off-tank stays high on threat so Gouge does not send Moroes into healers.
  • CC players lock down assigned dinner guests immediately.
  • DPS kills the first dangerous guest, then follows the kill order.
  • Healer guests should usually die early unless they are fully controlled.
  • After the dangerous guests are dead or controlled, swap to Moroes.
  • When Garrote starts stacking, healers must track affected players and keep the raid stable.
  • Use Ice Block, Divine Shield, Blessing of Protection, or Stoneform where available to reduce Garrote pressure.

Common mistakes:

  • No CC assignments before pull
  • Cleave breaking Shackle or Trap
  • Off-tank not staying second on threat
  • Trying to tank every add without the gear for it
  • Ignoring Garrote targets
  • DPS tunnelling Moroes while guests kill healers

Moroes is not a damage race. A slow controlled pull beats a fast chaotic wipe every time.

Back to boss list

Maiden of Virtue

Maiden is a positioning, dispel, and healer-awareness fight. The raid needs to spread properly, dispel fast, and handle Repentance windows without losing the tank.

Key abilities:

  • Holy Ground — constant area damage and silence around Maiden.
  • Holy Fire — heavy magic debuff; dispel immediately.
  • Holy Wrath — chains between nearby players; spread out.
  • Repentance — incapacitates the raid; plan tank survival.

Recommended setup:

  • 1 tank
  • 2-3 healers
  • Magic dispel strongly recommended
  • Paladin utility is useful for Repentance handling

Strategy:

  • Tank Maiden in the centre of the room.
  • Ranged and healers spread around the outer circle.
  • Melee spread as much as possible and avoid unnecessary Holy Ground damage.
  • Dispel Holy Fire immediately.
  • Stay spread to stop Holy Wrath chaining through the raid.
  • Before Repentance, healers can pre-HoT the tank and tanks can prepare cooldowns.
  • A Paladin can use Blessing of Sacrifice to help break Repentance.

Common mistakes:

  • Raid stacking and chaining Holy Wrath
  • Holy Fire not being dispelled fast enough
  • Healers being surprised by Repentance
  • Melee sitting in Holy Ground too long
  • Raid spreading out of healer range

Maiden becomes much easier once the raid spreads correctly and Holy Fire is treated as urgent.

Back to boss list

Opera Event

Opera is random each lockout. You can get Romulo and Julianne, The Big Bad Wolf, or The Wizard of Oz. The raid leader should identify the event immediately and call the correct priority.

Possible events:

Romulo and Julianne

Strategy:

  • Phase 1: Kill Julianne alone.
  • Interrupt Julianne’s heals and dangerous casts.
  • Phase 2: Kill Romulo alone.
  • Tank Romulo facing away from the raid.
  • Phase 3: Both return together.
  • Interrupt Julianne, tank Romulo away from the raid, and keep both health pools close.
  • Kill both close together so one does not revive the other.

Common mistakes: missed interrupts, killing one too early, tank facing Romulo into the raid.

The Big Bad Wolf

Strategy:

  • Tank Big Bad Wolf with room for movement.
  • When a player becomes Little Red Riding Hood, they must run immediately.
  • The chased player kites around the room and avoids being hit.
  • Healers swap attention to the chased player.
  • The rest of the raid keeps damaging without blocking the kite path.

Common mistakes: Red Riding Hood target standing still, panic pathing, healers not swapping attention.

The Wizard of Oz

Strategy:

  • Assign kill order before damage starts.
  • Control or kite dangerous adds where possible.
  • Do not have all DPS attacking different targets.
  • Keep healers safe from loose mobs.
  • When the Crone appears, spread and avoid tornadoes.
  • Kill the Crone while keeping the raid stable.

Common mistakes: no kill order, loose adds on healers, ignoring tornadoes.

Opera wipes happen when people only know one version. Treat all three as real fights.

Back to boss list

The Curator

Curator is a target-swap and burn-window fight. Kill the Astral Flares, then burn the boss during Evocation.

Key abilities:

Strategy:

  • Tank Curator in a stable position.
  • Ranged and DPS swap to every Astral Flare immediately.
  • Do not tunnel Curator while Flares are alive.
  • When Curator enters Evocation, use major cooldowns and burn hard.
  • Healers watch the tank, raid damage, and Hateful Bolt target.
  • Repeat until final burn.

DPS priority:

  1. Astral Flares
  2. Curator during Evocation
  3. Curator when no Flare is active

Common mistakes:

  • DPS tunnelling the boss
  • Cooldowns used outside Evocation
  • Slow target swaps
  • Healers not ready for Hateful Bolt

Curator is easy when the raid follows priority. Adds first, boss during Evocation, repeat.

Back to boss list

Terestian Illhoof

Illhoof is an add-control and target-swap fight. Demon Chains are the fight. If chains die fast, the boss dies. If chains are ignored, people die.

Key abilities / targets:

Strategy:

  • Tank Illhoof in a controlled central position.
  • Keep the raid positioned so everyone can swap to Demon Chains quickly.
  • When Sacrifice happens, every DPS swaps to chains immediately.
  • AoE or control imps throughout the fight.
  • Manage or kill Kil'rek depending on your raid damage.
  • Return to Illhoof only after chains are dead.

DPS priority:

  1. Demon Chains
  2. Imp buildup if healers are overwhelmed
  3. Kil’rek if your raid is killing him
  4. Illhoof

Common mistakes:

  • DPS tunnelling Illhoof during Sacrifice
  • Chains not being called clearly
  • Imps overwhelming healers
  • Sacrifice target dying because healers react late

Illhoof is a selfish-DPS detector. If people do not swap to chains, someone dies.

Back to boss list

Shade of Aran

Shade of Aran is a personal responsibility fight. He does not need a normal tank, but the raid must handle interrupts, movement, and Flame Wreath discipline.

Key abilities:

Strategy:

  • Spread around the room while staying in healer range.
  • Assign interrupters before the pull.
  • Interrupt dangerous casts according to your raid plan.
  • If Flame Wreath is on you, do not move at all.
  • When Arcane Explosion starts, run away immediately unless Flame Wreath prevents movement.
  • Move out of Blizzard.
  • Control or kill elementals if they appear.

Common mistakes:

  • Moving during Flame Wreath
  • Not running from Arcane Explosion
  • Interrupts being random instead of assigned
  • Raid spreading out of healer range
  • Elementals being ignored

The Shade rule is simple: if Flame Wreath is on you, do not move. Not a step. Not a jump. Nothing.

Back to boss list

Netherspite

Netherspite is the beam fight. If beams are assigned, it is controlled. If beams are improvised, it becomes chaos.

Key mechanics:

  • Nether Beam - Perseverence — raid damage pressure.
  • Netherbreath — move out.
  • Red beam — usually handled by tanks.
  • Green beam — handled carefully because of healing/mana effects.
  • Blue beam — often used by DPS but increases risk.

Strategy:

  • Assign red, green, and blue beam players before the pull.
  • Assigned players stand between their portal and Netherspite.
  • Do not let beams hit Netherspite freely.
  • Red beam player controls boss positioning and threat.
  • Blue beam player uses the damage boost but must be healed carefully.
  • Green beam player follows the raid’s healing/mana plan.
  • Rotate beam soakers before debuffs become a problem.
  • During banish phase, reset positioning and prepare for the next beam phase.

Common mistakes:

  • No beam assignments
  • Players standing in the wrong beam
  • Blue beam player dying
  • Red beam mishandled and threat becoming unstable
  • Void Zones ignored
  • Trying to learn beams mid-fight

Netherspite is not a fight to wing. Assign beams before the pull and make every player repeat their job if needed.

Back to boss list

Chess Event

Chess is an event fight rather than a normal boss. Players control chess pieces and defeat the opposing king.

Strategy:

  • Assign a reliable player to control the King.
  • Assign players to healer pieces.
  • Move pieces out of fire when Medivh cheats.
  • Use healer pieces to keep key units alive.
  • Push damage pieces forward carefully.
  • Focus the enemy King when safe.

Common mistakes:

  • No one controlling the King properly
  • Pieces standing in fire
  • Healer pieces doing nothing
  • Players leaving pieces unused

Chess is usually easy, but it still needs someone to take charge.

Back to boss list

Prince Malchezaar

Prince is the final required boss of Karazhan. The fight tests positioning, infernal awareness, tank healing, and reaction to Enfeeble into Shadow Nova.

Key abilities:

  • Enfeeble — reduces affected players to very low health.
  • Shadow Nova — deadly if Enfeebled players are too close.
  • Infernal Relay — dispel where possible.
  • Infernals — control the room and force movement.

Strategy:

  • Tank Prince near a wall or platform edge.
  • Ranged stay at safe distance.
  • Melee must be ready to move depending on Enfeeble and infernal placement.
  • When Enfeeble happens, affected players must avoid Shadow Nova.
  • Move early when infernals land. Do not wait until the safe area is gone.
  • Phase 2 has heavier tank damage, so healers and tanks should prepare cooldowns.
  • Phase 3 is about staying calm, keeping safe space, and finishing without panic movement.

Common mistakes:

  • Tank starting in a bad position
  • Raid moving too late from infernals
  • Enfeebled players getting hit by Shadow Nova
  • Healers unprepared for phase two tank damage
  • Final phase panic movement

Prince is a space-management fight. Good groups move early. Bad groups wait until infernals have already ruined the room.

Back to boss list

Nightbane

Nightbane is optional, but important. He is harder than most core Karazhan bosses and should be attempted once the raid is comfortable with ground positioning, air phase adds, and landing pickup.

Key mechanics:

Ground phase strategy:

  • Tank Nightbane facing away from the raid.
  • Nobody stands in front except the tank.
  • Melee stand at the side, not in front and not directly behind the tail.
  • Ranged and healers spread safely.
  • Avoid Charred Earth.
  • Use fear management for Bellowing Roar.

Air phase strategy:

  • Skeleton adds are the priority.
  • Group in a planned area without stacking in fire.
  • Tanks or durable players help control skeletons.
  • Use slows, stuns, AoE, and ranged damage to kill skeletons quickly.
  • Healers prepare for heavy raid damage.

Landing transition:

  • Tank must be ready to pick Nightbane up as he lands.
  • DPS should stop or slow until the tank has control.
  • Raid returns to ground phase positioning quickly.
  • Nobody stands in front during pickup.

Common mistakes:

  • Nightbane faced into the raid
  • Melee standing in breath or tail danger
  • Skeletons loose during air phase
  • Raid spreading too far during air phase
  • DPS opening too early after landing
  • Attempting Nightbane before the group can clear core Kara cleanly

Nightbane is optional for a reason. If your group is still wiping on Moroes, Curator, Shade, or Prince, fix those basics before forcing Nightbane attempts.

Back to boss list

Boss Strategy Summary

  • Attumen: tank pickup, decurse, transition threat reset
  • Moroes: crowd control, kill order, Garrote healing
  • Maiden: spread, dispel Holy Fire, handle Repentance
  • Opera: identify the event and execute the correct strat
  • Curator: kill Flares first, burn during Evocation
  • Illhoof: kill Demon Chains immediately, control imps
  • Shade: do not move during Flame Wreath, run from Arcane Explosion
  • Netherspite: assign beams before pull and rotate cleanly
  • Chess: control King, healers, and damage pieces properly
  • Prince: manage infernals, Enfeeble, Shadow Nova, and phase two tank damage
  • Nightbane: control ground positioning, air phase skeletons, fear, and landing pickup

10. Trash Packs That Actually Matter

Karazhan trash is not just filler. Bad trash pulls waste more time than some bosses.

Trash danger points:

  • Stables trash can stun and punish loose pulling
  • Moroes trash can be dangerous if patrols and packs combine
  • Undead mobs may need control instead of brute force
  • Casters should be interrupted or line-of-sighted
  • Large packs should be pulled carefully, not body-pulled randomly
  • Respawns can become a problem if the group wastes time

Good trash habits:

  • Let tanks pull
  • Use line of sight
  • Mark kill targets
  • Interrupt casters
  • Do not AoE before tanks have control
  • Drink quickly and move together

If your raid is wiping on trash, slow down. Clean pulls are faster than chaotic pulls followed by corpse runs.

11. Common Kara Wipe Causes

Most Karazhan wipes are predictable. They usually come from preparation gaps, not impossible mechanics.

Common causes:

  • People not attuned or not ready on raid night
  • Missing gems and enchants
  • No food or consumes
  • Bad threat control
  • Unassigned crowd control on Moroes
  • DPS tunnelling boss instead of required adds
  • Late dispels
  • Poor healer mana management
  • Players not knowing the one mechanic that matters
  • No one confirming Nightbane summon access before the raid

Easy fixes:

  • Run Raid Check before invites
  • Confirm attunement status early
  • Assign CC before pulling Moroes
  • Call kill targets clearly
  • Make food and consumes normal, not optional
  • Do not attempt optional bosses if the raid is already falling apart

Kara becomes much easier when the raid treats preparation as part of the run, not something people improvise after the first wipe.

12. How EpicForge Helps

Karazhan is exactly the kind of raid where EpicForge can save time before the group even zones in.

Use EpicForge before Karazhan to:

  • Look up each character before invites
  • Check missing gems and enchants
  • Review obvious gear gaps
  • Compare characters if deciding between alts or fills
  • Use Raid Planner to build the 10-player roster
  • Use Raid Check to catch raid-wide prep issues
  • Track linked characters and alts that may support the run
  • Share character links in Discord before raid night

Good EpicForge pre-raid workflow:

  1. Create or review the Karazhan roster in Raid Planner
  2. Check tanks first
  3. Check healers second
  4. Check DPS gems, enchants, and obvious gear issues
  5. Confirm consumable expectations in Discord
  6. Run Raid Check before final invites
  7. Fix easy issues before pulling Attumen or Moroes

EpicForge will not play the character for someone, but it will show you which characters are obviously unfinished before those problems become raid wipes.

13. Quick Summary

  • Karazhan is a 10-player raid in Deadwind Pass
  • Players need Karazhan attunement through The Master’s Key chain
  • Nightbane is optional and requires a separate unlock
  • A safe progression comp is 2 tanks, 3 healers, and 5 DPS
  • Moroes is the first serious organisation check
  • Curator checks add control and cooldown timing
  • Shade of Aran checks personal responsibility
  • Netherspite checks coordination
  • Prince checks positioning and room management
  • Food, gems, enchants, potions, and class reagents should be normal
  • Use EpicForge Raid Planner and Raid Check before raid night, not after wipes start

Why This Matters

Karazhan is not just a loot hallway. It is the first place many TBC players learn whether their character, roster, and raid habits are actually ready.

A group with decent gear, clear assignments, proper consumes, filled sockets, basic enchants, and calm communication will have a much better time than a stronger-looking group that shows up unfinished.

Do the prep, check the roster, assign the important jobs, and use Karazhan as the first real test of raid readiness.
