The Players Have Spoken - What We Want From Classic+
Source: Wowhead • Cached for offline reading
Earlier this year, WoW Classic content creator, Joardee, launched the The Classic+ Project website, inviting players to take surveys, pitch ideas, and vote on community posts, all related to what players want to see in a future version of Classic. Now, the results are in. Over 35,000 players have voted for what they'd like to see and what they think should be excluded from Classic+.

What Does Classic+ Mean to You?

What Players Want

Smaller Raid Rosters

In Classic, the majority of endgame raids require up to 40 players to complete. While the results are somewhat mixed with this survey question, the majority of players would prefer raid sizes to be reduced to 20 players, with the option to bring up to 40.

Dungeon Finder

Similar to the tool that currently exists on Anniversary servers, the majority of players prefer an in-game tool that allows them to easily find players who wish to do similar content, without spamming text channels. However, players don't want this tool to be used as a quick travel method, instead leaving it up to the group members to make their way to the dungeon on foot.

Summoning Stones

Somewhat contradicting the previous survey question, nearly 74% of players want summoning stones to be active outside of dungeons. Originally introduced in The Burning Crusade, summoning stones require at least 2 members of the party to be present at the summoning stone to summon the remaining members of the group.

Heroic Dungeons

Originally introduced in The Burning Crusade, Heroic Dungeons offered players a higher-difficulty challenge to 5-player content, while also providing enhanced rewards. While most players agree that Heroic dungeons would fit in Classic+, some are hesitant about how they might be implemented.

AoE Looting

Originally introduced in Mists of Pandaria, AoE Looting allows players to loot multiple enemies in the same area simultaneously. This would be a massive advantage to classes who are capable of AoE farming, such as Mages and Paladins.

Revamped Classes

While most respondents agreed that the majority of Classes and Specializations do not need a rework, players agree that Retribution Paladin, Balance Druid, Protection Paladin, and Arcane Mage could use a revamp in Classic+.

Dual Specialization

A whopping 95% of respondents agree that Dual Specizaliation belongs in Classic+. Originally introduced in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, this quality-of-life change has also made its way to Anniversary and even Classic Era servers.

What We Don't Want

Flying Mounts

Originally introduced in The Burning Crusade expansion, nearly 81% of players who took the Project Classic+ survey agree that Flying Mounts do not belong in Classic+.

A Changed Leveling Pace

While The Burning Crusade implemented a reduction in overall experience required to reach level 60, the majority of players agree that the leveling pace of Vanilla is great just the way it is.

Transmog

Originally introduced in the Cataclysm expansion, Transmogrification (often shortened to 'Transmog') allowed players to transform the design of their weapons and armor into any class-appropriate gear that they had previously acquired. Nearly 52% of respondents agree that Transmog does not belong in Classic+.

GDKP

55% of total respondents agree that GDKP does not belong in Classic+. However, when digging deeper into the demographic data of the survey, a 47% majority of players who labeled themselves as Hardcore Raiders do want GDKP in Classic+.

Mixed Responses

Server Rollout

When asked how Blizzard should release servers for Classic+, the community is divided. While the small majority (27%) suggests that there should be one mega-PvP server and one mega-PvE, similar to Anniversary, the next highest option came in at 24% with condensed server lists, similar to Season of Discovery.

New Classes

While a small majority of 42% of players agree that there should never be any new classes added to Classic+, 35% of respondents say that they would like to see classes that already exist in other versions of WoW, such as Death Knights, Monks, and Demon Hunter, as well as brand-new Classes, exclusive to Classic+.

Server Reset Frequency

17% of respondents would like to see fresh Classic+ servers every few years, while 29% don't ever want fresh servers, and 50% are unsure, as it depends on several other factors.
